Thanks ... they seem to come from the subconscious. I've taken the perspective that the cartoon of David Hicks - which I am using as a symbol - as Nolan did with the Ned Kelly theme - is very symbolic of one of the key aboriginal dream time spirit themes. The treatment of Hicks is a micro cosmos of the greater subjection of the Australian aboriginal peoples and cultures ... in my opinion.

Secondly, I am a 5-6 generation ‘white guy’ and the indigenous spirits and dreamtime have probably started to seep into the European mind set. So, it could be a Jungian subconscious thing, and/or an artistic device to define the fractal ‘boundary road’ between two world views.
This bi-polarity should, according to chaos and complexity theory, allow a third ‘new’ perspective to emerge in the viewer. Hence, the juxtaposition of straight “white-man” views with renditions of the aboriginal dot-painting approach, which could be considered a form of pointillism (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pointillism) I think. Hicks has cross that boundary road and is being persecuted for it by his ‘tribe’.

My genetic material has probably been here in the great south land long enough to have absorbed some sensitivity to that level of local art – but I confess that it must be considered only a naive level of understanding. It serves a purpose in this art@work context – e.g. perhaps I could scribble in Arabic or Chinese but not make much sense etc. Thanks for the comment. It has stimulated some thinking. Cheers. R

Postnote: I should have added the suggestion to view the first of these series where the concept is outlined under "Initial conditions" -- "... Rich Pictures & Dreamtime: A reconciliation of
Thinking styles..."
