To be frank – art@work is impressed with the ‘Catholic Papa’ – it seems he is not ‘spun’ by ‘Mr Spin’.

It is almost a requirement for this antipodean interlude to be irreverent, but Pope Benedict XVI has earned an art@work indulgence with his public dismissal of Tony Blair’s “BIG C” conversion talk.

The spin mister’s master spinner says it all – and perhaps we see the higher intelligence and Truth at work behind the façade: “Alistair Campbell, once telling reporters: "We don't do God." (http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story/0,20867,21961382-601,00.html). How true!

Well we know there are many lesser and minor imps and devils that would also agree with Campbell’s sentiment… but has one of our three stooges lost his nerve and is now contemplating a long hard wake-up to the dupe he has been?

While we actually think that, where as GWB is an arch devil of the “have’s and have-mores”, and little Johnny Howard is an arch-cynical weasel ripping the flesh off the public façade of an ugly Australia, dear little Tony-B is the clown looser. Not only has he been the arch-hypocrite and Bush-butt-plug, but in true form he turns on his Monarch (the head of his church), one-finger’s the Crown and then farts in the face of the English Anglican establishment.

It is to the credit of the Bishop of Rome that he sees through this and seeks no part in it (or so it seems). There are limits to which Rome will stoop these days – thank God for that: there is hope at last.

It will only seem but a day or so and Tony B, JH and GWB will be dinning with old Saddam H. in the warmer climates of the next life. Tony: you are a naughty boy and in deep doo-doo’s. You would be better off being like GWB and JH who have no pretence at faith at all. Or have you been conned by two of your own?
